The Islamic Law of Inheritance (‘Ilm al–Mirāth) is considered half of knowledge.
This weekend course embraces two main areas of inheritance which every Muslim having a distributable estate should be aware of:
1. The underpinning philosophy of Islamic Inheritance Law and the calculation of shares of the legal heirs
2. Issues to consider when drafting Islamic Wills under English Law.
This weekend course will provide participants with a good foundation to calculate shares of their immediate family members and drafting their own Wills, where their estate is within the Nil Band Rate limits. The course will combine theory and interactive exercises.
Participants will delve into the substance of the Islamic Law of Inheritance under English Law and opportunities will be given to address modern issues relating to Islamic Inheritance Law.

Shaykh Faizal Manjoo is an attorney at law, an academic and also a Shari’a scholar from South Africa, and a member of the Shari’a Supervisory Board of a number of Islamic Financial Institutions in South Africa, Bahrain, France and Mauritius. Presently based at the Markfield Institute for Higher Education (Leicester), he lectures in many universities as a guest lecturer and is a consultant in the field of Islamic Finance, family law and commercial law. He has authored a number of seminal works on Islamic Finance and is regular presenter at international conferences.
Tanweer Sheikh, a graduate from Queen Mary University of London with a BSc in Economics & Mathematics, completed a Masters in Islamic Finance at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, Leicester. He began his career with PwC in 2007 qualifying as a chartered Accountant and then joined Deloitte specialising in Financial Services, VAT and Islamic Finance. He runs an e-commerce business, and advises Muslim businesses.
