CERTIFICATE IN FIQH AL-MU’AMALAT
This exclusive course is delivered over 3 weekends and leads to a Certificate in Islamic Commercial Law (Fiqh al-Mu’amalat). This programme has been designed to provide an overarching framework about the why and how of Fiqh al-Mu’amalat and Islamic Finance. It will enlighten you on subjects affecting various facets of your lives, starting from simple purchases to intricate commercial contracts involved in Islamic Banking and Takaful. It essentialises those concepts via an Islamic moral economy filter and compares it critically with the prevailing market practices.
The Certificate programme has been designed to facilitate the schedules of busy professionals and students, requiring a commitment of only 1 weekend per month over a period of 3 months. Each weekend will capture 2 essential themes. Attendees will be provided with handouts and limited reading material, with optional advanced further reading lists available. The programme will be interactive and involve numerous discussions affecting contemporary commercial issues.

The courses will primarily cover fiqh al-buyu’, Islamic retail banking, takáful (Islamic Insurance) and Islamic financial markets. It will embrace the concepts used by Shari’a scholars and market experts in developing products.

Shaykh Faizal Manjoo is an attorney at law, an academic and also a Shari’a scholar, and a member of the Shari’a Supervisory Board of a number of Islamic Financial Institutions in UK, South Africa, Bahrain, France and India. Presently based in Leicester and is the Director of Minarah Consulting. He lectures in many universities in Europe, Africa and Asia as a guest lecturer and is a consultant in the field of Islamic Finance, Family Law and Commercial Law. He has authored a number of seminal works on Islamic Finance and is a regular presenter at international conferences. His PhD research focused on Islamic occupational pension. Shaykh also holds a Masters in Islamic Education as well as in Islamic Finance Banking and Management.
